The BRIX Mix
“The Apple Picker”
Apple picking in New England is a rite of passage to fall. But what do you do with the fruits of your labor? Let’s face it, we can only make so many pies! This recipe turns your orchard finds into a delicious fall libation.
2 oz. Bourbon
1 ½ oz. Fresh Apple Cider
½ oz. Ginger Syrup*
½ oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
Thin (almost translucent) Apple Slices for Garnish
In a cocktail shaker add all the ingredients. Fill with ice and shake until cold. Strain into an ice filled low ball glass that has been garnished with a thin, almost translucent apple slice.
*Ginger Syrup
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup Water
10 pieces of peeled and sliced, fresh ginger
In a saucepan add sugar and water. Stir to combine and bring to a light boil. Add the pieces of ginger and simmer for 15 minutes. Allow to cool and strain out the ginger.
